MHA is a part of the first ever Intergovernmental Support Agreement (IGSA) between a housing authority and the military! The IGSA will save the Air Force and the taxpayer an estimated $100M over the next 30 years compared to the cost of constructing a new dorm on base and the military having to provide the funds to maintain that building for the next 30 years. The IGSA allows the military to spend relatively small dollar amounts annually for ensured quality housing that frees up funds to pay for war materials and mission related infrastructure that is desperately needed NOW.

The utilization of like-kind IGSAs across the military would free up tens of billions of Today-dollars for items other than housing and allow the military to walk away with no strings attached after each 10 year increment.

Being off-base decreases the burden of the aged infrastructure that exists on every military installation. This allows aging base infrastructure to be focused on mission critical facilities so that on-base housing (a top dollar cost at most installations) can be decreased. Thus, when new infrastructure is installed it can be focused on the mission items and not housing needs.
